Steps to the finest digital art reproduction ...

FILM is by far the best capture medium for artwork reproduction. The art is optimally lit and cross-polarized and photographed onto 4X5 transparency film.

The transparency is then scanned by a DRUM SCANNER that captures the full dynamic range of the film, and digitizes all of the addressable information on the film using fully calibrated colormetric values. There is true detail (no noise) in the shadows, and highlights retain their subtle separations. The capabilities of the drum scanner allows for extremely large files and image reproduction without interpolation.

DIGITAL FINE ART REPRODUCTIONS are made using the long-lasting pigment inks and pH neutral artists' material, guaranteed by the manufacturers to be archivally stable up to 100 years. Canvases are produced with an extra 3" border of blank canvas, allowing wraparound for stretching, and are finished with an enhancing and UV-protective topcoat. Alternatively, a 3" color border can be created rather than leaving the extra border canvas white, if a "gallery wrap" stretch is desired. Another option for a gallery wrap is to use part of the actual image and fabricate additional coverage for the 3" wrap around on the sides. Specially coated watercolor papers are genuine artists' media with inkjet receptive surface treatments that increase color gamut and maximizes ink load. Reproductions on watercolor paper are printed with 1/2 to 2 inches of white border to facilitate matting.
